well..you never know what's waitin' around the corner
waitin' to trip you up, taggin' along for the ride
and you never can tell who'll be there to back you up
standing in your corner when the chips are down
how come it's all hanging over me
like a parasol sheltering me from the sun
now I never meant you any harm
and I'm still beguiled by your charm
how I long to be wrapped in your arms.. forever
karma comes a walkin', and karma comes a'talkin'
karma comes a chalkin' one up for me
oh karma comes a rockin', karma comes a knockin'
karma comes a sockin' one for me
karma bomb...karma bomb
Oh you never know what's hiding in the closet
skeletons in the cupboard
who's the rat on the sinkin' ship ?
sheltered in a cloud of cotton wool
with your head up a place where the sun don't shine
no I never expected the unexpected
that was now and this is then
like a rabbit in the headlights...bewildered
karma does the walkin', and karma does the talkin'
karma is a chalkin' one up for me
Karma is a comin', karma is a hummin'
karma is a bummin' a ride with me
karma bomb...karma bomb
cast your spell..on a rainy day
down a wishing well you throw it all away
now who can tell, and who's to say
so I'll paint it all with gold leaf
and chase the indigo..away
now if I'm a cloud, you are a puff of smoke
as we mingle till we become as one
as we float across an obsidian sky
above the ocean of tears we cried
gently we meld...and become, one and the same

It's just so easy for Martin Phillips, innit? Even after more than 30 years, he's writing the kind of effortless melodies that most songwriters would kill for. So this is just another perfect pop record to add to their discography. This will easily be a top 10 of the year.

Finally had a chance to sit with this whole album, and wow, congrats to Steve and Frank for delivering such an impressive and glorious work! Great Kilbey poetry throughout, as usual, and some classic dream pop guitar sounds. But this isn't a retro project. The vibe is 110% NOW. I'm in love with "Words are Wasted," but you can't skip to it. You got to earn it through the journey. I'm going to be processing this one for a good long while; in the meantime, hope you'll do another! Trace Reddell
